EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nawazuddin Siddiqui reveals why an actor should NOT overdo their scenes
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is undoubtedly one of the finest actors this film industry has seen. The actor has given some of his brilliant performances in films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Manto, Raman Raghav 2.0, Badlapur, Haramkhor among others. His stint in digital platform with Sacred Games too turned out to be a super success. EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nawazuddin Siddiqui reveals why an actor should NOT overdo their scenes Speaking EXCLUSIVELY to Bollywood Hungama recently during the promotions of Motichoor Chaknachoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was asked about working with Athiya Shetty and how one should perform in scenes. "Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki kabhi bhi kisi actor ko aisa ahsaas nahi dilaana chahiye ki you are something. Aap usmein merge ho jao. Kabhi aap jyaada hai, kabhi aap usse kam ho. Yeh pura give and take hona bahut zaroori hota hai. Ki main apni acting lo lekar kisi pe phenk ke maaru ki 'tujhe pata hai main kitna bada actor hoon?'', yeh toh phir uss din se downfall shuru ho jayega. Ek mahaul hota hai aur uss mahaul mein merge hona hota hai aapko. Kabhi kabhi situation aisi hai ki aap usmein kam ho toh kam khelna chahiye aapko. (I feel that one should never make anyone feel that you are something. You should get into the skin of the character. Sometimes, you are above the role, sometimes the character is above you. There should be a full give and take. I can't take my acting too seriously and go around saying that 'you know who I am?'. Your downfall begins from that day onwards. You have to analyze the atmosphere and merge into your character. Sometimes when the situation is where you are less in the scene, you have to play accordingly)," says Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Nawazuddin Siddiqui further talked about what his theatre teacher had taught them. "Hamare ek teacher the, Russian teacher the aur hamare 3rd year mein play karne aaye the. Woh bolte the ki agar kisi scene mein aapki 5 % demand hai toh utna hi karo, usmein extra nikal ke aane koshish na karo kyunki woh dikh jaati hai. Agar aapka character aisa hai ya unka character aisa hai toh woh respect rakhna bahut zaruri hai scenes mein. Agar aap kam ho toh aap kam hi khelo, usko woh respect do. Toh yeh zaruri hota hai. Agar main har jagah apni acting dekhane laga, toh uss din se sab khatam ho jayega.(We had a Russian teacher in 3rd year who had come for a play. He used to say that 'if there is a 5% demand of you in a scene, do not overdo it because it reflects easily. If your character or someone else's character has less screen time, so you should maintain that respect. If you have less time, you should respect that and work accordingly. If I start showing off my acting chops in everything, then it will be over for me)," added Nawazuddin. Motichoor Chaknachoor is set to release on November 15, 2019.
