Alaya F opens up about working on Freddy; says, “Working with Jay Shewakramani is always a great experience”

Alaya F will next be seen with Kartik Aaryan in Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming flick Freddy. The film is about a shy and introvert dentist, who stays in a quiet hill station. There is not much info about Alaya’s character. But the actress has opened up about her experience of doing the film. Freddy will see her teaming up again with producer Jay Shewakramani after her debut film Jawaani Jaaneman, in which she played Saif Ali Khan’s daughter. Hence, apart from the script, another reason for her to do the film was Shewakramani.

“The script is a great one and I remember being totally hooked to the story while I was reading it,” said Alaya in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama. “I had worked with Jay sir before, so I knew that working with him was always a great experience.”

Needless to say, she is happy because of her co-star as well. “Plus, the film had Kartik who’s doing really incredible work!” said the actress. “All in all, there wasn’t a single reason for me to not trust the script. The fact that it is totally different from my debut film made Freddy even more exciting for me. I wanted to be a part of Freddy instantly!”

Looking back, Alaya has fond memories with Shewakramani during her debut film. “Jawaani Jaaneman was an incredibly special film for me because it was my debut and I was working with the most wonderful people. I remember going to set every day and just feeling so happy and so grateful. Jay sir enabled that for me because he really believed I could be great as Tia.”

Alaya’s role in her debut flick was something not many newcomers would attempt normally. She played a pregnant woman in her early 20s. “It was an unconventional role for a debut film but it didn’t matter because I had great trust and faith in Jay sir and the team's vision and process,” she added. “That trust and faith will always be there, and it has grown stronger with time. He’s been a great support and mentor to me over the last three years. When Freddy came to me, it was an instant yes from my end, because of them, because if he and the team are confident I can pull it off, I trust I can too.”

Apart from Freddy, Alaya will also be seen in U Turn.

Freddy will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from December 2, 2022.
